Deutsche Telekom, Inc.
Klaus-Peter Statz studied
law in Mannheim, Germany and started his professional career
at Deutsche Bundespost in 1984, initially in Frankfurt. In
1987, he was appointed to the legal department of the Federal
Ministry for Post and Telecommunications. When Deutsche Bundespost
was split into separate postal and telecommunications companies
in 1989, he joined the headquarters of the newly created Deutsche
Telekom AG.
There, he was appointed to
head up a working group charged with transferring all of the
company’s legal customer relationships from administrative
to private law. Later, he worked in the sales division, overseeing
several major restructuring projects and assisting in the
build-up of the company's international sales activities.
After two years spent working
in Deutsche Telekom's newly established international division,
he joined the company's U.S. subsidiary, Deutsche Telekom,
Inc. in 1997, where he initially served as Chief Strategy
Officer, and since January 1, 2005 as President and CEO. |
