Klaus-Peter Statz
President and CEO
Deutsche Telekom, Inc.

Klaus-Peter Statz studied law in Mannheim, Germany and started his professional career at Deutsche Bundespost in 1984, initially in Frankfurt. In 1987, he was appointed to the legal department of the Federal Ministry for Post and Telecommunications. When Deutsche Bundespost was split into separate postal and telecommunications companies in 1989, he joined the headquarters of the newly created Deutsche Telekom AG.

There, he was appointed to head up a working group charged with transferring all of the company’s legal customer relationships from administrative to private law. Later, he worked in the sales division, overseeing several major restructuring projects and assisting in the build-up of the company's international sales activities.

After two years spent working in Deutsche Telekom's newly established international division, he joined the company's U.S. subsidiary, Deutsche Telekom, Inc. in 1997, where he initially served as Chief Strategy Officer, and since January 1, 2005 as President and CEO.
